And so it begins my friends! Everyone has a dream, that something that nags at the back of their consciousness begging to be born. Sometimes the seeds were planted long ago, as were mine when my father handed me my first copies of "The Adventures of Sherlock Homes" followed by "The White Company" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Those two books began a love affair of reading that has carried me in good stead for many a year. I have always been a voracious reader, spending countless hours at the Public Library and borrowing books from friends and family alike to read. One of the first series I ever read was the Hardy Boys!
I spent many a summer locked indoors reading, while my friends were out in the fields building fortresses and makeshift rafts out of old doors to ride the wild rivers that formed in the fields during the rainy seasons. Mind you I would go out and play, but my creativity was constantly being pushed as I learned more and more about the world around me. My taste in literature hovered over the classics isle for many years, before I expanded into science fiction/fantasy.
By the time I entered my freshman year in high school, I had expanded my taste into classical poetry devouring the school libraries well stocked shelves. I read everything from William Blake to Milton, Dante, Baudelaire, Rimbaud, T.S. Elliot, Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Khalil Gibran, William Carlos Williams, Ezra Pound, Paul Verlaine, Walt Whitman, Alan Ginsburg, Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs, and of course Jim Morrison. I read for the sheer love of reading and eventually took pen to paper to take my own first tentative steps.
